You will manage scheduling, billing, and database of contacts; handle filmmaker relations; and research new distribution models. You must have an engaging personality, be diligent, and extremely well-organized. A passion for independent film is important, and a knowledge of documentaries a plus. Must be a self-starter with solid writing, typing, research, and Mac computer skills (owning a Mac laptop is essential). Flexible schedule--25-30 hours/week split between work at home and Westside office. Must be reachable outside scheduled hours for urgent questions. Minimum commitment of one year.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Founded in 1972, Women Make Movies (WMM) is a non-profit feminist, media arts organization dedicated to the distribution and exhibition of films by and about women. Women Make Movies' Production Assistance (PA) Program provides assistance to emerging and experienced women directors in the production of new documentaries, fiction and experimental films.
WMM is seeking a Production Assistance Program Coordinator who will report directly to the Executive Director and work with our Program Consultant. The PA Program assists women filmmakers to independently produce films by providing fiscal sponsorship, workshops, seminars, and various online resources. The Coordinator will manage the fiscal sponsorship program, including review of applications, administering contributions and disbursements, preparing government funding reports, and handling production assistance inquiries. Additional responsibilities include organizing and scheduling workshops and seminars, updating information resources and the PA section of our website, and promoting the program and its activities.
Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements:
At least two years experience working in a non-profit arts organization
Must have some familiarity with foundation/government fundraising
A basic knowledge of film production and/or financing.
This position requires someone to be extremely detailed, computer savvy, and who can successfully juggle multiple tasks in a productive and positive manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Flexibility, professionalism, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor, of course, are mandatory!

The Position
The Office Manager is responsible for overall office
administration (detailed below) as well as other tasks assigned by and
assisting the Executive Director. The Office Manager develops and maintains productive
and efficient administrative functionality for the entire office and plays a
primary role in developing solutions to administrative challenges. The person
in this position must have excellent time management skills, the ability to
prioritize multiple tasks and a solution-based approach to work. The position
works directly with the Executive Director and staff members to ensure smooth
day-to-day operations of all the programs. The Office Manager / Executive
Assistant must be professional, mature, and flexible and have excellent written
and oral communication skills as well as customer service skills. Excellent
computer skills and ability to work as part of a team are a must.
Responsibilities
Administrative Duties

Serve as primary office receptionist: manage and direct incoming
calls, respond to questions from the general public about IDA and our programs,
greet guests, announce visitors and receive and distribute deliveries;

Manage phone and voicemail systems and arrange for required
maintenance;
·
Coordinate office equipment purchases and maintenance;
·
Identify, select and manage relationships with vendors;
·
Receive, date stamp and distribute all incoming mail;
·
Deliver all outgoing mail to mailbox or post office on a daily
basis;
·
Coordinate room rentals and reservations for meetings and events;
·
Serve as point person for facilities issues and announcements;

Update and distribute Board and staff contact rosters;

Monitor and order office supplies;

Prepare,
deliver and document bank deposits;

Format and post all job announcements;

Liaison
between office and LA Center Studios staff;

Assist with selected event planning and direct mail projects;
·
Assistance
to the Events and Programs Manager at all IDA events as needed - requires some
nights and weekends;

Maintain
RSVP lists for IDA events.
Membership Duties
·
Respond
to membership inquiries received via phone and email;

Process
online membership transactions;
·
Process
memberships via phone as requested;

Coordinate
weekly mailing of membership letters and membership cards.

Documentary production company seeks detail-oriented intern with a strong film production and/or journalistic background. This is a great opportunity to work with established, award-winning filmmakers on a mini-series that will be broadcast on PBS next year. Northwestern University's Department of Radio/Television/Film seeks a tenure-track full-time Assistant Professor of media production for appointment beginning September 1, 2010. Salary commensurate with experience. We are looking for a documentary mediamaker, whose work is both innovative and nationally recognized, as demonstrated in screenings, reviews, grants, and awards. A secondary expertise in narrative, experimental, and/or new media, is an added plus. An MFA or doctorate is required, with at least one year of full-time teaching experience.
The candidate will teach directing and also rotate through a range of courses which might include producing, camera, lighting, sound, and editing, so ideally will have a knowledge of the necessary hardware and software and/or a willingness to learn. Our facilities include 16mm film, DV and HD equipment; Avid and Final Cut editing; and Pro Tools sound suites.
Our undergraduate curriculum includes courses in narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental media making; we also offer minors in film studies and sound design and a certificate in creative writing for the media. The department funds several large-scale extracurricular student production groups dedicated to narrative mediamaking. At the graduate level, we offer an MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage, and a PhD in Screen Cultures. We welcome candidates who work across different media and/or cross disciplines, and who are committed to integrating theory and practice. Our production courses stress aesthetics and concepts; we want to foster a critical approach to media, along with instruction on the craft of writing/production.
