Metro

Metro operates Los Angeles’ primary bus and rail system, serving destinations across LA County. It’s one of the largest public transportation networks in the U.S.

  • E (yellow) and A (blue) Lines: Little Tokyo/ Arts District stop

Metrolink

Metrolink is a separate commuter rail service connecting Los Angeles with surrounding counties, including Orange, Riverside, Ventura, San Bernardino, and San Diego County. It’s a useful option for regional travel.

Getting from LAX Airport to Little Tokyo

Little Tokyo is located in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), approximately 20 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Depending on traffic and time of day, travel can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour.

FlyAway Bus + Metro or Walk

The LAX FlyAway Bus provides direct service between the airport and Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles. From Union Station, visitors can take the Metro to Little Tokyo, request a short ride share, or walk if staying nearby.

Los Angeles Metro provides the most affordable route to Little Tokyo but may require multiple transfers and longer travel times. Visitors can connect from LAX to the Metro system and travel toward Downtown Los Angeles, exiting at Little Tokyo / Arts District Station. 

Ride Share (Uber / Lyft)

For most visitors, especially those arriving for the first time or traveling with luggage, Uber or Lyft is the easiest way to reach Little Tokyo. After arriving at LAX, follow signs for LAX-it, the designated pickup area for ride share services. A free shuttle is available if needed.
