About the Project

In Atlanta, Black midwives navigate legal challenges to provide homebirths. MID WIF explores the rich traditions of Black midwifery in the US, highlighting the current political struggle to legalize their profession.

    Mia Harvey

    Mia Harvey is an award-winning director and producer and an alumna of the National Film and Television School. Her short film With Woman won Best Student Film at the 2023 Grierson Awards, received an IDA nomination, a Vimeo Staff Pick, and is now available on The Guardian Documentaries. Inspired by her Caribbean heritage, Mia’s work delves into the joys and struggles of everyday life, examining human experiences through the lenses of history, race, and gender.

    Natasha Dack-Ojumu

    Natasha Dack-Ojumu is co-founder of multiple award-winning production company Tigerlily Productions, Natasha’s recent feature films include SPACEWOMAN (2024), UNDERCOVER: Exposing the far right (2024,) Bafta/RTS winning White Nanny Black Child (2023), Bafta nominated, Golden Alexander at Thessaloniki Documentary Festival and LFF audience award winner  Blue Bag Life (2022), and Kanaval: A People’s History of Haiti in Six Chapters (2022) winner Dublin Film Critics Circle Documentary Award, BIFA nominated for Best Debut Director/Best Cinematography. As Executive Producer, Natasha’s most recent films include BIFA award-winning documentary Poly Styrene: I am a Cliché (2021), A Deal with the Universe (2018), BAFTA winning and BIFA nominated documentary Dying to Divorce (2021), Sundance premiering Is There Anybody Out There? (2023) and ENO (2024).
