About the Screening
IDA Presents a special screening of Served Like A Girl with moderated Q&A. Director Lysa Heslov's documentary provides a look several American women who are transitioning from soldier to civilian after serving their country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Struggling with PTSD, homelessness, broken families, divorce, serious illness, and military sexual abuse, the women find ways to adapt and overcome through the Ms. Veteran America competition. Guided by event founder and veteran Jas Boothe, the women use the competition to recover the parts of self and identity they lost in war.
