middle aged white male convict listens with arms crossed at a re-entry training

About the Project

Each year in the United States, 650,000 convicts are released from our state and federal prisons. Four Walls Around Me follows three of them as they embark on the jarring odyssey known as “re-entry.”

Jake Diepenbrock and his former gang comrades, Junior and Troy, will struggle to find work, a place to live and those who can love them.   Along the way, they find tough love from a wizened ex-con and a parole officer.

Is it possible to truly re-invent yourself? Four Walls Around Me tracks the earnest attempts, grave missteps, and the frightening end game of three criminals trying to find a place in society with the rest of us
