About the Project

A 21-year old son of a fisherman sets out to become the first internationally recognized surfer from Pakistan. Attiq Rehman is a young athlete breaking every stereotype and barrier in his way to make it in the world of surf. Despite scarce resources, familial pressure, and a lack of government support, he continues to expand the boundaries of what's possible. Through his social club, Surfers of Bulleji, Attiq and his friends have drawn the attention of established surf communities around the world. Now, he stands at a critical inflection point: will his dreams become a reality?

    Shahbano Farid

    Shahbano Farid is a Pakistani-American Director and Writer whose mission is to understand the human experience one person at a time. With a penchant for sharing stories of everyday people doing extraordinary things, her work spotlights emerging talents and celebrates subcultures around the world. She met Attiq in 2024 and immediately knew he was meant for something bigger. Born in Karachi, Shahbano has a deep connection to the city and is passionate about exploring narratives coming out of Pakistan. Previously, Shahbano wrote and directed Arijah Haseeb’s cricket episode for By Her Rules, a 2020 docu-series produced by the International Olympic Committee. In 2024, she debuted her solo short doc Karachi at Night, exploring the underground DIY dance scene in Karachi, Pakistan. Her commercial work includes directing for publishers such as VICE, Bon Appétit, Vanity Fair and Architectural Digest.

    Dan Bradley

    Dan Bradley is an executive producer who has created documentaries across the globe, been nominated for an Emmy and won four Webby Awards, a Producers Guild Award, and an Adweek Award. Most recently, he Executive Produced on the Netflix hit series Sprint. Dan's sports production company Duplex Deli was sold to Wavelength Productions earlier in 2025.
