Organization:
White Elephant Group (WEG) is a team of 20+ award-winning film and digital media artists working across various artistic avenues including: cinema, XR, mixed-multimedia and more to artistically address and elaborate upon the voices and experiences we've had coming from minority and underserved communities in South Florida.
Supported Project:
WEGx is a film industry-centered event that aims as its mission to elevate, celebrate and provoke in-depth discussion about South Florida’s contribution to positively disrupting the state of the modern film industry both regionally and nationally. Leaning heavily on South Florida’s critically-acclaimed and highly disruptive cinematic traditions as well as its cultural and artistic impacts in the national film industry over the last two decades, WEGx is bringing together South Florida filmmakers, media artists, regional and national film industry leaders to participate in a series of programs including project pitches, experimental discussion panels, open forum debates and community conversations with the aim of challenging preconceived notions of South Florida’s place in the wider film industry and re-thinking the narrative of our unique role in the cultural and industrial impacts of cinema at large. Together with our partners, colleagues, sponsors and supporters, WEG is excited to present the platform of WEGx as a community-driven, industry-inclusive means of disruptive reflection and redefinition of South Florida as a cultural, artistic and industrial force in the national and worldwide communities of filmmakers and cinematic storytellers. The event seeks above all to re-introduce regional and national film industry leaders and decision makers to South Florida’s unique cinematic qualities and traditions as defined by South Florida filmmakers and cinematic storytellers themselves.
