About the Project
What does it mean to be safe in school in the United States? Safe from what, and from whom? Bulletproof poses and complicates these questions through a provocative exploration of fear and American violence.
Todd Chandler, Director/Producer
Todd Chandler is a filmmaker, artist, and educator. His films and installations have been featured at the Hammer Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Mass MoCA, Torino Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, True/False, and the Camden International Film Festival. His work has been supported by the Sundance Institute, Jerome Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the Wexner Center for the Arts, and the Corporation of Yaddo. He is a 2017-2018 Points North Fellow. He has taught in high schools and universities for over fifteen years, and currently teaches in the Film Department at Brooklyn College.
Danielle Varga, Producer
Danielle Varga is an independent film producer, and has been working in nonfiction and documentary film for over a decade. She recently co-produced Kirsten Johnson's award-winning film Cameraperson, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and was shortlisted for an Oscar. She most recently was a consulting producer on Charm City, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2018. She was the archival producer on Matt Wolf's Teenage which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013. Her films have premiered at high ranking film festivals across the world, and have screened in theaters, as well as on PBS, HBO, Netflix, and Amazon. She was a 2016-2017 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow.
