About the Project
A group of film school graduates research the teaching legacy of film educator, Colin Young, the former chairman of UCLA’s film department, wherein, during his tenure many of UCLA’s most famous alumni graduated, such as Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Schrader, Jim Morrison, Joan Chruchill, among many others. And despite his various contributions to UCLA’s Film School, there is little to no mention of him on UCLA TFT’s Website or film building today. Through research & interviews with former students, alumni, & faculty, this documentary will shed light on the legacy of Colin Young’s film education in the US & the relevancy that his teaching philosophy has today for the next generation of filmmakers.
