About the Project

Finding Harding: Lost at Shore is a feature documentary that begins with U.S. Navy Veteran filmmaker Andrew B Church's search for former shipmate Tyler Harding, who disappeared from contact after leaving Active Duty. The search opens into a wider examination of what can happen when the military's structure, mission, identity, and belonging fall away.

Through former shipmates, Veterans, families, and people working within the systems Veterans encounter after service, the film traces the difficult work of rebuilding purpose and agency without reducing Veterans to brokenness, or Harding to a mystery to be solved.

Grounded in privacy, consent, and accountable editorial practice, the project asks what helps people build a life after service, and what is lost when that support fails. The film is being developed for festival, theatrical, broadcast/streaming, educational, Veteran-community, and public-interest audiences.
