For our first IDA Conversation Series event in Chicago, we teamed up with Kartemquin Films to explore of the extraordinary work and career of the Academy Award® nominated director Steve James (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters, Life Itself). He shares his theme of “Craft” and storytelling techniques in a career retrospective with Adam Kempenaar, host of the weekly film podcast/WBEZ radio show Filmspotting. This conversation was part of Kartemquin Films' celebration of 50 years of democracy through documentary and 50 years of filmmaking in Chicago.
