About the Screening

Studio 54 opens the door to the outrageous glamour that was 1970s New York City and the nightclub that was at the center of it all. It was the pulsating epicenter of '70s hedonism: a disco hothouse of beautiful people, drugs, and sex. The club not only redefined the city after hours, it shaped the culture becoming the glittering meeting ground for uptown and downtown, high society and emerging gay culture, art and commerce, music and Hollywood. The film features an exclusive interview with club co-founder Ian Schrager, who speaks in depth about Studio 54 on camera for the first time, as well as interviews with key participants and never-before-seen archival film and photos. The journeys of Schrager and Steve Rubell—two best friends from Brooklyn who conquered New York City—frame this history of the "greatest club of all time.”
