About the Project
After the one-two punch of the game-changing CG animation of Jurassic Park and Toy Story, many stop-motion animators feared the storied art form was doomed. Fast-forward thirty years, and key animators and studios have continued to make incredible, unique works of stop-motion film and television, winning awards and gaining legions of fans despite the pervasive dominance of CGI and the threat of AI. This documentary chronicles the studios, directors, animators, and other creatives keeping stop-motion alive in our very digital age, while showcasing the magic of the art through BTS footage, set visits, and clips of stop-motion classics, old and new.
