A blue and red toned painted wood cut of a California coastline and the text saying flowering dusk, anti-colonial revolutionary and Mystic poet Ella Young carries Irish Magic into wild California

About the Project

Driven from Ireland when the revolution she'd given thirty years to turned grey and administrative, Ella Young arrived in California speaking the language of mountain spirits, sea-voices, and the old fairy races — and found a continent that already knew the dialect. She encountered the hidden world the way others encounter weather. Flowering Dusk asks what we lose when we stop believing nature is alive with something older and stranger than ourselves.
