WAGAH

WAGAH centers on the Beating Retreat ceremony at the Wagah/Attari border between India and Pakistan: a daily spectacle of militarized performance, patriotic fervor, and fleeting unity. The film will blend visual essay, intimate discussion, and historical context, constructed from observational footage of the ceremony, archival material, interviews, and my own narration and reflections. The interviews will surface differing opinions about the ritual, while my voiceover will weave these threads into a broader meditation on memory, belonging, and my upbringing across the globe.
