American Documentary, the nonprofit organization behind POV, POV Shorts, and America ReFramed, announces the 12 Wyncote Fellows who will attend the PBS Annual Meeting (May 19–21, Atlanta, Georgia). A curated program introduces independent filmmakers to the PBS Annual Meeting, the eight annual Wyncote Fellowship is coordinated by AmDoc in collaboration between PBS indie partners. This year, nominations were from POV, Firelight Media, ITVS, Reel South, WORLD, and the five organizational members of the National Multicultural Alliance: Black Public Media, Center for Asian American Media, Latino Public Broadcasting, Pacific Islanders in Communications, and Vision Maker Media.
Today, BAVC Media announces the 2025 cohort of its longstanding MediaMaker Fellowship, which is known for betting on emerging artists and early projects as a “first-in” supporter. Selected filmmakers will receive US$10,000 in unrestricted funding, mentorship, industry access, feedback sessions, and workshops over the next 9 months. The Fellowship kicks off with an in-person intensive convening in San Francisco in April before continuing at select film festivals across the U.S.
Today, Peace Is Loud and UFO announce the Peace is Loud x UFO Post/Impact Residency, which combines more traditional residency perks of a post-production workspace and support with impact strategizing. The pilot residency went to Wood Street, directed by Caron Creighton, which “follows members of Oakland’s Wood Street homeless encampment as they organize against dual evictions from both the city and state.”
