IDA Announces Nominees for 41st Documentary Awards
Join us for the 41st IDA Documentary Awards, as we bring together nominees, honorees, peers in the field, and industry leaders. We welcome IDA Members and the general public on Friday, December 5, to celebrate all the nominees, and Saturday, December 6, for the presentation of this year’s awards.

The Big Reveal: See Nominees in 13 Categories
IDA received 550+ entries in all categories from 85 countries, an increase over last year in the total number of countries represented. IDA Documentary Awards entries were reviewed by jurors consisting of many dozens of documentary professionals from around the world.
IDA members will have access to view each of the nominated films and to vote for the winners in the Best Feature Documentary and Best Short Documentary categories from November 19 to December 2, 2025. All other category winners are selected by juries representing the international documentary community. To learn about how to become an IDA member, visit documentary.org/membership
The 41st IDA Documentary Awards will be presented in the following categories on December 6, 2025: Best Feature Documentary, Best Short Documentary, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Production, Best Sound Design, Best Writing, Best Curated Series, Best Episodic Series, Best Music Documentary, and David L. Wolper Student Documentary Award. Winners in two special categories, the ABC News VideoSource Award and the Pare Lorentz Award, will also be announced on December 6, 2025.
This year, in place of announcing a shortlist for Best Feature and Best Short followed by nominations, IDA’s juries have included special mentions alongside nominees to recognize more of this year’s films.
IDA Honors Julie Goldman, Brittany Shyne, and Impact Partners with Special Awards
At this year’s ceremony, documentary producer Julie Goldman will receive the Career Achievement Award; Brittany Shyne (Seeds) will receive the Emerging Filmmaker Award; and Impact Partners will be presented with the Pioneer Award.
