The IDA invites your participation in Part Two of our 2019 Tools of the Trade: Documentary Equipment Survey! Building on the results and feedback received from Part One of the study, Part Two digs deeper into the specific equipment used for different shooting scenarios and includes an expanded post-production section. We want to stay true to our goal of creating a comprehensive portrait of gear used by documentary filmmakers and helping all nonfiction creators choose the best possible equipment for future projects.
In this survey, you’ll be asked to reference your most recent completed or post-production-stage documentary project. Depending on your filmmaking role, questions include specific brands and models of: cameras & support systems, lenses, audio gear; as well as specifications of: lighting equipment, gear accessories, editing computer and software.
Please allow 10 to 30 minutes to complete the survey to the best of your abilities. While you can skip questions if you are unable to provide detailed answers, we highly encourage you to share this survey with someone on your team who can.
At the end of the survey, you’ll have a chance to enter into a prize drawing for GoPro HERO7 Black or DJI Osmo Action. Thank you for your participation and look for the results in the Winter 2020 issue of Documentary magazine!
