IDA Conversation Series: Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering
Series Interviewer Ben Mankiewicz
IDA’s signature conversation series, which features a stellar lineup of prominent documentary filmmakers, kicks off in July with a spectacular new location — the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science’s beautiful Linwood Dunn Theater — and a dynamic new host/interviewer: Ben Mankiewicz, Turner Classic Movie host, film critic and journalist.
Our premiere event, featuring an onstage interview and clips program, spotlights the remarkable directing/producing team of Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering. Their most recent documentary feature The Hunting Ground, a monumental exposé about sexual assault on college campuses, premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and has focused national attention on this critical issue. Their previous film, The Invisible War, a groundbreaking investigation into the epidemic of rape within the US military, won two Emmy Awards for Best Documentary and Outstanding Investigative Journalism, a Peabody Award, and was nominated for an Academy Award®. The film led to the passage of 35 pieces of legislation in its wake. Their previous films include Outrage, This Film is Not Yet Rated, Twist of Faith (Academy Award nominated), and Derrida.
Upcoming filmmakers featured in the series include Rory Kennedy, Alex Gibney, and Davis Guggenheim.
