The word access has a unique resonance for nonfiction filmmakers – when applied to disability it gains even greater significance. Access to resources is needed to make a film. Access is also required to observe and document a subject. When referring to disability, access is also necessary to move through space and use equipment.

In this special panel, moderator Lawrence Carter-Long of Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund Director of Communications joins panelists Jason DaSilva, Cheryl Green, Jim LeBrecht and Day Al-Mohamed as they discuss the current state of nonfiction filmmaking and detail the ways in which disability intersects with activism, visibility, and representation in addition to how non-disabled allies can help advance opportunity and accessibility in the industry.
