About the Project

Love. Perseverance. Faith. How does family endure during uncertain times? For Japanese-American couple, Kelly and Mary Adachi, the journey of acceptance leads from the flower shop deliveries in Hollywood, the bowels of incarceration in Arkansas and finally toward the realization of a dream in Cincinnati. Narrated by eldest son, Michael Adachi, Boodie and Bambi: A Nisei Story is a documentary film that chronicles the story of Kelly and Mary Adachi, across generations and landscapes, as they search for a place to call home.
