About the Project

When every child attending an unassuming public school is given violin lessons, their lives are forever shaped by the gift of music.

For 20 years, Kettering Elementary—a public school in Long Beach, California—has taught every second grader the violin as a part of its core curriculum. Fifty Violins is the story of this program and the dedicated community behind it.
