About the Project

The Point of No Return Educational Initiative will bring the documentary, Point of No Return, the inspirational story of the first solar-powered flight around the world, along with inquiry-based, hands-on STEAM curriculum around sustainability, climate change, and climate solutions, to middle and high schools across the US, with a particular focus on underserved communities. The film and Next Generation Science Standards aligned curriculum will strengthen environmental literacy and help students develop skills necessary to take on 21st century challenges like climate change: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration – the “4 CS” of 21st century learning. Hands-on activities will include building solar powered machines, designing efficient batteries, and imagining future sustainable cities. Students will collaborate on their own sustainable inventions, and be inspired to engage in school-wide and community-based sustainability campaigns that will help improve quality of life in communities across the country. Like the Solar Impulse team, students will be encouraged to try and fail and design creative solutions - empowering them to become tomorrow’s problem solvers and innovators in the transition to a more sustainable future.
