About the Project

The documentary, Taizé: A Pilgrimage of Trust, explores the unique historical, spiritual, musical and cultural significance of the Taizé ecumenical monastic community in Burgundy, France. Taizé emerged during a time of great social upheaval in Europe—amid the devastation of World War II when a small group of men dreamed of a place where they could work, pray and live as a community of reconciliation. Taizé became a symbol of hope and peace in a war-torn world, a hope that continues today especially for youth who flock to this tiny village every year seeking spiritual renewal. Viewers get an in-depth look at the community that has attracted world and religious leaders alike through the eyes of the youth. We accompany several youth during their week at Taizé as they work, pray and live with other youth of different cultural and religious backgrounds, ever seeking to determine the transformations that take place between one another and within themselves.
