About the Project
Almost a decade after the King/Drew Medical Center in South Los Angeles was forced to shut down in the wake of gross mismanagement and escalating fatalities, a new state of the art hospital rises out of the ashes, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH), opened its doors in 2015. Dedicated to accomplishing nothing less than radically upending health care for this desperately underserved community yet, faced with a negative legacy, a population of 1.3 million people, and a shortage of more than 1,200 physicians, can good intentions and dedicated professionals heal a community that has seen promises come and go leaving nothing of significance accomplished?
